Shaanxi University of Science & Technology is a university located in Xianyang, Shaanxi province, China.
The university was founded in Beijing in 1958 as Beijing Institute of Light Industry[1].
It later moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi, and was renamed Northwest Institute of Light Industry， in 1970. The university was one of the first 88 national key universities designated by the central government.
In 2002, the university took on its current name, Shaanxi University of Science & Technology.
After 2004, it opened a new campus in Xi'an.
